Advising
We are available to meet any need your organization may have for us to provide one-on-one advising regarding immigration, career, cultural, and personal issues (which are often interrelated). Our advisors can work with internationals affiliated with your organization (in person, over the phone, or via e-mail) to help them make long-term plans or coach them through immediate needs. We will show them how to ask questions, plan ahead, and avoid making assumptions that might create problems in the future.
A typical advising session lasts 1 to 2 hours. Advising may include, but is not limited to:
- Preparing to talk with an immigration lawyer
- Planning a career path with visa transitions in mind
- Sorting through cross-cultural issues in the workplace
- Exploring visa options for a family member to visit or live in the U.S.
- Adjusting to life in the United States or preparing for re-entry culture shock when leaving the U.S.
As part of the advising process, we may refer clients to members of the Verami network, such as trusted immigration lawyers, potential mentors, or tax advisors.
The individual non-tax-deductible fee for a typical advising session is $150; however, in some cases, advising may be included in an organization's institutional membership fee. Please contact us to discuss how we can provide advising services to internationals affiliated with your organization.
